What areas of the renewable industry does SARETEC offer training in?

SARETEC will offer courses in Wind energy and Solar power initially, but will diversify into other areas such as Biogas, Energy Efficiency and Micro Hydro power.

Accommodation & Prior Learning (RPL)

Does SARETEC have accommodation for students?

Yes, SARETEC may establish partnerships to provide accommodation for national and international students. Contact SARETEC for further information.

Will there be recognition of prior learning (RPL) process?

Conference & Facilities

Does SARETEC have conference facilities?

Conference facilities are available for up to 80 delegates and a lecture theatre can accommodate 100 delegates. Please Contact SARETEC for details. View Conference & Facilities 

What are the costs of hiring the conference facilities?

Costs may vary with customer preferences and duration.

Where are SARETEC courses offered?

Are SARETEC courses fulltime only?

Are SARETEC courses only technical in nature or are there non-technical courses?

Yes by SAQA and the QCTO.

Do SARETEC courses have CPD credits?

Yes, depending on the course CPD credits may be offered.

Duration Courses & Workshops

How often do courses run?

What duration are the courses?

Short courses 8 to 40 hours and Long-term courses 3 to 24 months

What duration are formal courses?

Long-term courses are between 3 to 24 months

What duration are short courses?

Short courses are 1 day(s) minimum and vary according to scope

What duration are workshops?

Workshops are normally 1 to 5 days.

Enrol for SARETEC

How do I enrol for courses?

Applications will be available online via the CPUT and SARETEC websites.

Do I need to be a South African citizen to enrol at SARETEC?

SARETEC always welcomes national and international students. In the case of short courses and workshops the candidate does not have to be a RSA citizen, however for formal long duration courses the candidate is required to register via CPUT and thus CPUT policy applies.

Fulltime Work

Can a fulltime working individual enrol for formal courses?

Full time formal courses requires full time attendance of the participant

Can a fulltime working individual enrol for workshops?

Yes, workshops are usually short in duration and can accommodate full time participant

National or International Collaboration

Does SARETEC have national or international collaboration with companies?

Does SARETEC help me find employment in the renewable energy industry?

Not directly, SARETEC has strong collaboration with industry and training at SARETEC will place you in a good position to find work in this sector.

SARETEC does not offer post graduate qualifications directly but is in partnership with Universities that do. Please see Our Partners 

Will SARETEC offer online courses?

In future yes, depending on the course, online classes will be available.

Types of Agreements

What types of agreements are signed between industry and SARETEC?

Typical agreements would be Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) where there is mutual benefit. For companies where there is strong strategic alignment then a Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) could be signed to reflect collaboration.

What types of agreements are signed between academia and SARETEC?

SARETEC is part of an academic network and typical agreements would be in the form of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) or Memorandum of Agreement (MoA)
