Msenge Emoyeni Wind Farm is calling on interested youth for an opportunity to train for an Occupational Qualification: Wind Turbine Service Technician Programme at Cape Peninsula University of Technology (CPUT) through its national facility, South African Renewable Energy Technology Centre (SARETEC) at Bellville Campus, Cape Town, Western Cape Province. The call is strictly earmarked for youth from the Eastern Cape (Blue Crane Route and Raymond Mhlaba Local Municipalities), in particular the following Towns: Cookhouse, Bedford, and/or Adelaide.
With South Africa’s wind energy industry rapidly expanding, there is a growing demand for well-trained Wind Turbine Service Technicians (WTST). Youth, between the ages of 18 – 34 years old, are encouraged to apply online through the SARETEC website before the specified deadline.
Wind Turbine Service Technicians (WTST) specialises among others in servicing and maintaining modern multi- megawatt wind turbine systems and are one of the key job-drivers for developing the renewable energy industry.
QCTO-Approved Occupational Certificate (NQF Level 5) – 123 Credits

About the Course
This nationally recognised qualification prepares learners to install, maintain, and repair wind turbine systems safely and efficiently. The programme combines theoretical, practical, and workplace learning to ensure industry readiness.
Duration:
- 7 months of full-time training at SARETEC
- 2 months of workplace experience on an operational wind farm
Total Credits: 123
- 91 Credits – In-house training (Knowledge & Practical)
- 32 Credits – Workplace learning
Entry Requirements:
NQF level 4 in the following fields Electrical, Mechanical, Fitting and Turning Millwright, and Mechatronics. Interested participations may also already have National Diploma in the same fields.

Application requirements:
The applicants must reside in the following towns Cookhouse, Bedford, and/or Adelaide. Local Municipalities: Blue Crane Route and Raymond Mhlaba.
- Proof of residential address (in form of utility or retail bill not older than 3 months, a lease agreement or an affidavit from the landlord).
- Minimum 3 years post tertiary education experience.
- Age Criteria: Between the ages of 18 – 34 years old.
PLEASE NOTE THAT ALL THE SELECTED CANDIDATES MUST PASS A CONSTRUCTION MEDICAL EVALUATION (COMPULSORY COURSE REQUIREMENT TO TEST FITNESS: ANNEXURE 3).
Eligibility criteria:
- South African Citizen or Permanent Resident.
- Must be a local of the Blue Crane Route and Raymond Mhlaba Local Municipalities
- No criminal record.
- Have no outstanding fees owing to the Cape Peninsula University of Technology (CPUT).
- Can not be enrolled in another programme at CPUT or any other Higher Educational Institution.
