WIND TURBINE SERVICE TECHNICIAN PROGRAMME


PLEASE NOTE: NO LATE AND INCOMPLETE APPLICATIONS WILL BE CONSIDERED

The program is offered at SARETEC’s specialised wind training centre in Bellville, Cape Town.

Duration of course: 9 Months ( 7 months of Theory & Practicals and 2 Months in-service training on a wind turbine farm).

Purpose of programme: To train and certify Wind Turbine Service in accordance with the South African Qualifications Authority (SAQA) Occupational Certificate, 99559 NQF Level 5 qualification and GWO standards.

Eligibility criteria:
• South African Citizen or Permanent Resident.
• No criminal record.
• Have no outstanding fees owing to the Cape Peninsula University of Technology (CPUT).
• Physically fit (Full medical would need to be undertaken prior to commencing).
• No fear of heights or confined spaces.
• Qualification requirements: Electrician (Light Voltage, Medium Voltage, High Voltage) / Mechatronics / Millwright / Fitters and Turners / National Diploma
(NDip) in Mechanical, Electrical or Mechatronics.
• Cannot be enrolled in another programme at CPUT or any other Higher Educational Institution.

Recommendations:
• Age criteria: Between the ages of 18 – 38 years old.
• Exposure to wind farm technology.
• +- 3 years’ experience or applicable (highly recommended).
• Highly motivated.
• Ability to work independently or in a small team.
• Good problem solving ability.
• Attention to Detail.
• Safety Consciousness.

Application procedure:
Following supporting documentation MUST be attached to the application form:
• Full Curriculum Vitae.
• Certified Copy of Identity Document.
• Certified Copies of Qualifications.
• Medical Certificate of Fitness Annexure 3 (Occupational Health and Safety Act 85 of 1993) – See attached Medical Questionnaire and Report Form and
Annexure 3
• Should you be applying via a company a letter of support must be attached (if applicable).
• Proof of Residence (Utility bill or Affidavit from landlord/owner) – Sponsor specified requirements

Cost of the programme per delegate:
If not funded by a sponsor, the individual must pay for him or herself.

Shortlisted Applicants will be contacted for interviews. If you have already applied previously for the programme, please inform us if you would like your previous application to be considered for the new intake however, updated information will be requested should it be required.
